Re: Puzzling question .... ?

Oh, why didn't I think of that? :fp  Actually, it's no longer a puzzle. Even just in the last hour that's passed, it's 'lost' about 15 minutes! On closer investigation, I noticed a few little scratches on the glass face - THEN it dawned on me ... the clock actually had a fall - just over a ...

Re: Puzzling question .... ?

I have since purchased a new battery which I have now inserted into the clock straight from the pack. The second hand is now moving as it should and so far it continues to show the right time. That was about 20 mins ago. I am going to check it every day at the same time to see whether it remains acc...

Puzzling question .... ?

Just wondering if anyone might have an explanation for something that's been puzzling me for quite some time: I have a little carriage clock that I've had for many years. It runs on a single battery (an ordinary C size) - like this: http://picresize.com/images/rsz_1duracell-1-5v-c-type-mn1400-lr14-a...

Re: Corbyn and Homeopathy

Surely he is making the same mistake that lots of people seem to do - confusing herbal medicine with homeopathy? Lumping together herbal medicine with homeopathy gives the former practice the same air of impossibility and detracts from the demonstrated benefits and future promise of using plants as ...

I never watch the show either, but had a look at your clip ... Very clever. :thumb:

(Really had me baffled as to how they did it - then you get a clue right at the very end. )

Re: The Pope doesn't believe in Hell...?

There's a long history of Christianity changing what it believes in. Sometimes this leads to offshoot versions of the religion, sometimes it just gets absorbed. The one which doesn't change is Islam - one of the drawbacks of having a holy book which cannot be questioned. Since the Christian Bible b...

Re: Winter advice from a Canadian.

Some winter advice for Brits from a Canadian: via Twitter. 1. Layer your clothes, with a wind/waterproof on top, & hat! 2. Don’t drive unless you have to. 3. If you do drive have a candle/blanket/full phone & petrol. (Does he/she mean torch?) 4. Alcohol in moderation as it lowers circulation. 5. Do...

She got off lightly. Women have been publicly stoned to death for much lesser 'crimes'. In Saudi Arabia, for instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_Saudi_Arabia Although the new guy in charge in S.A. has already set about radically (and quite controversially in some quarters) ...

Re: When do you become "old"?

It's pretty much a moving goalpost for most people. When you reach the 'old' 30 landmark yourself, you see things differently and then 40 becomes 'old', and so on ....

(I'm at the stage now where - 'old' is when you reach 90.) :|

Re: Exclusive Trump / Piers Morgan interview

Piers Morgan's interview with Donald Trump to be shown on ITV, Sunday (28th Jan) at 10:00pm. Should be fun. :ang http://news.tvguide.co.uk/piers-morgan-will-interview-donald-trump-presidents-first-international-interview/ It'll be interesting to see if Morgan employs his usual interview technique o...
