Re: On supermajorities

Makes a lot of sense. This was done in the two Scottish devolution referendums - the threshold set being 40% of the electorate for some reason. The first in 1979 resulted in 32.9% for devolution so failed, the second in 1997 44.87% so devolution was passed. However for us... http://janfennellthedogl...

I thought they were just going to revoke A50.

Re: Brexit consequences

An interesting view from Forbes, the American business magazine. The U.K. stock market is increasingly telling us Brexit is dead. This possibility in the almost unfathomable Brexit crisis has become totally feasible. I wondered early on - when the predictions of chaos following a win for Brexit in ...

Re: Travel Insurance

The EHIC is valid in Switzerland.

https://www.ehic.co.uk/
Although it is essentially an EU health card, it can also be used in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Norway. In total it can be used in 28 different countries across Europe

Re: Travel Insurance

Talking only about Europe... I asked a bunch of guys in the pub last night - some have holiday homes abroad, some do city breaks, all travel. All said yes - they have travel insurance. I asked why. They said what if you get ill? I said use your EHIC. They ALL said - 'what's an EHIC'? :fp So they did...

Re: Weird weather

Totally OT I suppose, but I'm off on hols to Switzerland on Wednesday. Weather forecast is distinctly chilly for most of the week, but escaping the horrendous shambles in the UK will be so refreshing. Are you planning to ask for asylum? Of course, if all else fails, there's always Dignitas... :ey :...

Travel Insurance

We never have up to now but we're off to Gran Canaria for a week and OH is thinking about it.

Any of you seasoned travellers bother with it?

Re: Brexit consequences

Just a thought...

The EU could remove the October 31st deadline for leaving.

That would solve a lot of problems - including them being being made to look as if they are intransigent.

Re: Brexit consequences

Whatever is said by people like Rees-Mogg ("certainly not trying to avoid Parliamentary scrutiny -this is the normal functioning of our constitution" despite him being the author back in January of this very ploy to get Brexit done) it seems to me that the stage is set for civil unrest.

Mythbusters did this - but a bit differently.

Re: Richard Osman on Nutrition.

Many years ago I was playing bass guitar in a band in a pub near Barnstaple. During a break one of the punters declared that he was the Guinness world record holder at drinking a pint of beer while standing on his head - which he proceeded to demonstrate. Further record attempts had been prohibited ...

Re: Remote viewing targets

Must say Anita - you do put a lot of time and effort into this. I feel however that the way you are conducting this will probably not convince many skeptics. The scattergun reporting approach and subjective self-evaluation of the results are particularly questionable techniques. I note on the other ...
