Re: Brexit consequences

I'm pretty sure most people of the remain persuasion are thinking that.

Re: Brexit consequences

Found this somewhere... Social scientists are increasingly interested in how personality affects voting. Authoritarian people, who favour conformity and obedience, make up about a third of the population. In America they account for a higher proportion of voters for Donald Trump. The research sugges...

Re: Tactical voting on Thursday.

I found out about remainvoter.com through Mike Galsworthy (Scientists for EU) on facebook. He interviewed one of the remainvoter software engineers and appeared to be promoting them. However since then he has posted that some of their recommendations are dodgy - even 'nonsense'. Just have to vote gr...

Re: On surnames

Interesting. I suspect people will simply choose which combination they wish to use. In Spanish culture each person has two surnames - the first one being the paternal surname and the second maternal. Spanish women do not change their surnames when they marry. Their children adopt both of their pare...

New Tory leader.

What happens if Boris or someone like that gets in.

Presumably they can't just say 'we're out'.

Will whoever it is have the same difficulties getting it through parliament as May has had?

Anyone know what's got to happen?

Tactical voting on Thursday.

This site... https://www.remainvoter.com/ ...claims that using tech they can advise voters in each constituency how to vote in order to maximise the number of remainer MEPs returned. This is not easy apparently due to the complex nature of the d'Hondt system. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_irel...

Re: "Why You Can't Win An Argument With an Idiot".

I have doubts about my mental abilities - does that make me intelligent?

By the way I don't think George Carlin is strictly correct about half the people being of below average intelligence.

Monsanto compensation

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/may/13/monsanto-cancer-trial-bayer-roundup-couple Seems odd that the US authorities have given Glyphosate and Roundup a clean bill of health but a jury can decide that it's that which caused the cancer. I think that a court in Italy the same with vaccines a...

Re: Alexa

Moved Alexa to a permanent position today and she refused to work for a bit. After pushing a few buttons the right lights came on. Alexa - are you OK now? No, I'm tense. It's the last episode of Line of Duty tonight and I know who H is. Alexa, who is H? I know who H is but I'm too scared to tell you...

Re: Tory-run Northamptonshire has no local elections today.

The only way it would be off the agenda is hard Brexit. Anything else would have Farage and his ilk protesting that we haven't left properly - the will of the people has been thwarted.

Re: Tory-run Northamptonshire has no local elections today.

It's bloody stupid is what it is. I have no idea if they are immensely thick or lying. Or just possibly it's that they want Brexit, but they know the electorate has changed to remain, and they need to 'get on with it' in their own interests while they can against the 'will of the people', before the...

Re: The Huawei leak

No it wouldn't get his job back - he probably wouldn't want it anyway.

But it would allow him the satisfaction of 'sticking one up May :???: ' so to speak.

Apparently 42 ministers have left this government since the 2017 election.
