Re: A second referendum - or a general election?

Well now, this is looking interesting: the ECJ has endorsed the advice from their lawyer that a country can unilaterally withdraw its Article 50 notice of leaving the EU, and remain in the EU on exactly the same terms it enjoys at present, provided it goes through some democratic process to do so. ...

Re: A second referendum - or a general election?

... gut feelings have at least as much to do with how people vote as reason... Just picking out that one, I had a beer-fuelled conversation with the world war three starter from my previous post - more of a one-way rant really with my only contribution, every 10 seconds or so, being - 'what's that ...

Re: A second referendum - or a general election?

Much is being made of the dangers of having a second referendum - betraying democracy, no-one would ever bother to vote again, leave voters would be very pissed off etc. and I suspect that for some (the tribal, faith based leave voters) that would be the case. In our 'early doors' group at the local...

The commons debate

Anybody else watching?

I'm impressed with the way it's being conducted - nothing like the bear-pit of PMQs

I'm finding it all very interesting.

Of course it all means nothing until the vote - will all this talking change any minds? Is that the point of it?

Re: Brexit consequences

I've just caught up on Marr - The Slithy Tove tm was on. He was saying the usual thing about any second referendum... (all paraphrased) ...that to have one would say to the people that 'you can have a choice but if you make the wrong choice we'll make you choose again' that it would 'undermine faith...

Re: A second referendum - or a general election?

Has anyone worked out what they want to happen on 11th Dec - MPs to reject or accept the withdrawal agreement? I've no idea. :con

And why are they even talking about a televised debate between May and Corbyn? What´s the point? :con

Re: Brexit consequences

I think she`s done stuff wrong but not necessarily what he says she did. The big mistake she made was to implement A50 when she did. She should have formed a working group of Brexit promoters (Fox, Davis and so on) given them some parameters to work to and told them to formulate a plan which was acc...

California fires

Trump's wrong.

Not caused by poor forest management at all - caused by a directed energy weapon.

Re: A second referendum - or a general election?

Isn't everyone saying that? Not everyone. Not only do a substantial chunk of the Tory Party and the UKIPers still want a "hard" Brexit. But it seems likely that there are a handful of Labour MPs who are prepared to vote for May's crazy worst-of-both-options compromise. And lots of people kept doubt...

Anti-Vaxxer rants on GMB

I watched this for a few seconds a couple of days back but had to turn it over to the Beeb - seems I wasn't the only one. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/good-morning-britain-guests-row-mmr-vaccine-102952987.html After a woman claimed she contracted mumps from a child who hadn’t been vaccinated against th...
