Re: Brexit consequences

When you are back from your holiday (which I hope you enjoy) would you tell us what this solution is?

Coz I have no idea how we extract ourselves from this mess. :con

Re: Stoned mice

Would it be unreasonable to feel a tad sceptical about this explanation? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-43738022 Investigators discovered 540kg (1,191lb) of marijuana missing from a police warehouse in Pilar, north-west of Buenos Aires. The city's former police commissioner, Javier S...

Re: Respect

That made me look the word up... 1. admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. "she was respected by everyone she worked with" 2. have due regard for (someone's feelings, wishes, or rights). "I respected his views" Your lines address the first o...

What amazes me is that there is satellite technology that can measure such a minimal change.

It's magick.

Re: visits to site

I've noticed that our esteemed leader's posts get far more views much more quickly that we serfs.

Don't know why that should be (apart from their obvious brilliance - obviously)

Re: Bathroom Scales

Hmmm. I suspect most scales have a mechanical element whether or not the display is electronic. I suspect you might be right - it's to do with the set of the weighing mechanism becoming distorted through gravity. If it's going to damage the thing irreparably that's one thing but If it's just a small...

Bathroom Scales

Got a new set.

We usually keep them in a convenient space between the loo and the bath leaning up against the bath.

However OH has noticed that the instructions say they must be stored flat which is a bit of a pain - it doesn't say why and I can't find out why they say that

Any ideas? :con

Many of us were convinced that he was given that job to ensure Brexit would fail.

Re: The gender wage cap

Am I the only one who is entirely unconvinced that there is anything necessarily sinister about this gap? It isn't necessarily sinister. You've identified various reasons that are all going to apply sometimes. And the process of looking at headline salaries without considering task/grade issues isn...

The gender wage cap

Big in the news as last night was the deadline for large companies to report upon their average wages per gender. Am I the only one who is entirely unconvinced that there is anything necessarily sinister about this gap? There are potentially many reasons for this difference from the obviously wrong....

Humour in the darkest moments

We were just telling a friend about how a family member of ours is trying cannabis oil as a treatment for her lung cancer and saying that it would almost certainly not do anything for her.

'Maybe not' she says 'but the placenta effect might make her feel better'.

Re: "First use of a nerve agent on European soil since WW II."

Believe me Tony many people will be convinced by it.

I have family members who think I'm a sheeple for even listening to the BBC.

Apparently I should be immersing myself in RT and Press TV. Even Infowars and Natural News have been mentioned as reliable sources.

These people are 'awake'. :con

Re: Ant (not) and Dec

Paloma Faith was brilliant wasn't she - considering she performed (I'm pretty sure she wasn't singing) dangling upside down for much of the time.

If you concentrate on her rather than the other distractions you can just see her knees moving from side to side under gravity as the room revolves.
