Ken Livingstone resigns from Labour Party.

“After much consideration, I have decided to resign from the Labour Party. The ongoing issues around my suspension from the Labour Party have become a distraction from the key political issue of our time – which is to replace a Tory government overseeing falling living standards and spiralling pove...

Re: Laurel or Yanny?

It is very strange. Even when I get to the very right side, I actually hear "YERRIED", or something like. If I start at Yanny, I hear Laurel after only 2 steps to the left.

Re: Brexit consequences

That moment of horror when you realise you're in full agreement with Jeremy Clarkson on a political issue. ( :-) )

Re: Laurel or Yanny?

I stumbled across a more detailed explanation, of sorts. But how come some people hear “Yanny”, when it should be “Laurel”? This may have to do with the ‘technical’ properties of the sound. Analysis of the frequencies in the sound suggests that the higher frequencies (>1000 Hz) are more like “Yanny,...

Re: Royal wedding 2018

Well, I realised a couple of days ago that my spare wooden leg urgently needs re-varnishing, and I will need to observe the drying process meticulously just in case there are technical issues to be overcome. :thumb

Re: Bob Nygaard, America's psychic-crime fighter.

He's been at it again, with the article's headline very easy to predict. Psychic Zoe has not had a very good week. On 9 May the fortune-teller, whose real name is Ann Thompson, was arrested by the New York Police Department on suspicion of defrauding clients out of over $800,000. You’d think she mig...

Re: Brexit consequences

Here's an interesting piece. Code of Good Practice on Referendums adopted by the Council for Democratic Elections at its 19th meeting (Venice, 16 December 2006) and the Venice Commission at its 70th plenary session (Venice, 16-17 March 2007) 24. National rules on both public and private funding of p...

Re: Brexit consequences

Another very interesting piece from Ian Dunt. A country leaving the EU is in a weak position for lots of reasons. Its small relative economic size for one thing. But there is also another very specific reason, less discussed but just as important: infrastructure. Worth a read, imo. https://www.prosp...
