Re: Which instrument for you?

The quiz suggests I learn to play the drums. Interestingly (or not) I played the timps in the Uni orchestra for a couple of years, but moved on. It can be quite nerve-racking - if you have 452 bars rest to count, but you get it wrong and hit the buggers a bar early, EVERYBODY notices.

Perhaps it's OK for a bit of humour, before we start stockpiling?

Re: Late night music.

Thanks for that, Tom. Definitely on the slow side, but more importantly for me is the LH/RH coordination, which I find irritating. Here's something else for your consideration, which also has irritations for me, but don't the two recordings illustrate the amazing variation in interpretation of a del...

Katie Hopkins - oh dear..

Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson's cruise CANCELLED after she applies for IVA to control crippling debt. Katie Hopkins isn't having a very good week - after narrowly avoiding bankruptcy by filing for an IVA , the racist commentator's luck is almost out now that a cruise on which she was set to be a...

"How to detect baloney the Carl Sagan way."

I've only just come across this, although it's almost eight months old. In 1995, just a few months before his death, astrophysicist Carl Sagan published The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. In that book, he wrote a chapter called 'The Fine Art of Baloney Detection', and from it ...

Small software update due this evening probably, this time carried out by the good folk at Envesko. It will involve a few minutes of downtime, though I doubt many members will actually notice.
Just for info.

"Intense Farming Better Than Organic."

Oh dear. The Bleevers will not accept. But best not to forget, these are only, like, scientists. Full of prejudice and religious nonsesnse, I expect. The study is a blow to the propaganda of the organic lobby, who base their methods on the appeal to nature fallacy, rather than the best scientific ev...

Suguru.

Anyone rather addicted to Sudoku puzzles, like me, might be interested in Suguru. They are a bit different and I'm finding slightly different strategies are required. I started with Book 1, which was quite simple, so I jumped to Book 10, and a couple of the puzzles had me stumped for quite a while u...

Re: Brexit consequences

The FT on "no-deal Brexit." More irrational scare-mongering, of course. Dominic Raab, Britain’s Brexit Secretary, this week published the latest in a series of notices spelling out what might happen in the event of “no deal” between Britain and the EU. By issuing such a huge tranche (28 were publish...
