Morgan Motor Company to be bought by an Italian investment firm.

Founded in 1909, Morgan is one of the last car companies still under British ownership. It sells about 700 handmade sports cars , with buyers sometimes forced to join a waiting list that can last six months. It reported revenues of £33.8m in 2018 and an after-tax profit of £3.2m. https://www.bmmaga...

Re: Brexit consequences

"Amsterdam’s Brexit bonanza." Nobody in the Dutch capital is happy the United Kingdom is leaving the European Union; the economic downside will be sizable. But the city has arguably done more than any other European competitor to minimize the damage, and even find considerable upsides. The Dutch ci...

OOps! Just another problem that seems to have been missed. "No-deal Brexit panic after ministers realise the UK doesn't have the right pallets for exporting to the EU." LONDON — The UK government is due to hold emergency talks with industry leaders today after discovering that the country doesn't ha...

"Why We Think Cats Are Psychopaths."

I've never had a pet cat. Assorted neighbours have, over the years, and none of them have been remotely friendly. There was "Morag" who occasionally would sit happily on my thighs, then suddenly stick her claws in. I generally get on better with dogs. Cats, she pointed out, simply don’t have the fac...

Re: Brexit consequences

"May's very-quiet admission of her total failure." They slipped it out just before 6:30 last night. It was a statement from DExEU, on the government's latest talks with the EU, written in its traditionally impenetrable passive-mechanical voice. But if you peeled the lid off it and peeked inside, it...

Re: Brexit consequences

As I'm sure you know, there have been three defections this morning. At 11 MPs, TIG now outnumbers the DUP - just. It would only take four more Tory defections, and May's majority would disappear. Two more defections needed surely? Although in practice it only takes a couple of abstentions from som...

Re: Brexit consequences

It will be interesting to see whether or not any Tories who have been contemplating resigning the whip decide to join the new group. However, I agree that it almost certainly won't amount to much. The current domination of the two main parties is almost guaranteed to remain in place unless the poli...

Re: Brexit consequences

Another interesting piece from Ian Dunt. Regarding the ERG, he concludes.. But it doesn't matter, because the ERG are not fighting for a reformed deal. They know they won't get it. They are fighting for no-deal. In their insane world, the crippling disaster of this scenario provides some sort of rel...

"Destino" - (Dali/Disney)

Originally begun in 1945, it took 53 years to complete. The Surrealist imagery you'd expect. (Even more effective viewed Full Screen.)
