What a pathetic name for a nasty group of diseases.
I was laid low with flu symptoms over Christmas - felt like death - but it only lasted less than two days so not flu.
So it falls into the category of 'flu-like illnesses' - viral illnesses with flu-like symptoms which aren't flu.

Needs a better name. paraflu, quasiflu, pseudoflu - something like that.

Re: Flu-like ilnesses
I do wonder how many people who say they have flu actually have it.
I get bad colds every winter, but I don't believe I've ever had flu - certainly not in my adult life, anyway.

Good to see you have recovered, if not totally. At least you'll be able to celebrate New Year - should you wish to. :)

Certainly the first day of a bad cold - before it 'breaks' can be pretty nasty but it soon becomes apparent that it's not flu because it turns into a cold.Tony.Williams wrote:I do wonder how many people who say they have flu actually have it.

These other 'flu-like illnesses' have all the symptoms of flu (head, aching limbs and joints, shivers and sweats, feeling like death etc.) but aren't usually as severe as proper flu and don't last as long.
They don't (certainly in the one I had) have cold symptoms.
