And a follow up.
JREF announces launch of the RANDI (Remote And Near Detection Indicator).

Compared with other detectors such as the ADE651, GT200, ALPHA 6, H3TEC, HEDD1, SNIFFEX etc, which claim they can detect almost anything, but actually work no better than random chance because they are a pile of poo, and the people who sell them are immoral bastards, the RANDI has an incredibly high identification/exposure rate.
:-P

Most kind of Bindeweede to post the above link, and to have picked up on it.

The more I think of the time I have cyber known (NO! Not cyberknown in the biblical sense!) this fine gentleman, the more I see him as an excellent miner of the internet, who has found a lot of nuggets over the years.

We have recently uncovered the case of Shoun Huckabee, a Texas resident, arrested in Mexico on a false hit from a GT200 (what other type is there!) and set up with planted drugs. Then he claims he was tortured.

We are pursuing, even though we discovered the story late.

You can Goggle his name if you want. Specifically the El Paso Times report.

So, on we go. Still no charges in UK!

Mexico may be the key to this since Bolton at Global Technical undoubtedly sold the GT200 there, even if through agents, on the back of Uk Military/ Government support, even if this ended quietly in 2004!

Herein lieth the first lesson my dear brethren! ;~} :h

Good find, Mr. Bindeweede. It took Inspector Knacker a while to get there, but he's still on the case.

Congratulations to DDick, Technowiz, James Randi and everyone else who had a role to play in this. They've all helped to make the world a safer place. A genuinely life saving effort.

Absolutely. I've also come across this, from Professor Bruce Hood.

This report from the Bangkok Post is interesting. Regrettably it seems that despite all the evidence to date, the arrests and charges laid here, and many warnings from many sources, the GT200 and Alpha6 are still in use in Thailand.

Brits ask DSI to testify on Comstrac Co

Published: 13/11/2012 at 12:00 AM
Newspaper section: News

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has been asked by police in the UK to testify against a British company accused of providing Thailand with useless bomb detectors.

The case involves Comstrac Co Ltd, which is accused of fraud in connection with the manufacture, promotion and sale of GT200 and Alpha 6 bomb detecting equipment.

Pol Lt Col Pong-in Intarakhao, director of the Security Crime Bureau, said British police have asked the DSI to testify about the false technology and the damage it has caused to the country. A hearing is tentatively scheduled during March-April next year, he said.

Pol Lt Col Pong-in was speaking after yesterday's meeting with British police responsible for the fraud case against Comstrac.

None of the countries which bought the device have filed a complaint against the company, he said. About 20 countries were reportedly "duped" into buying the devices.

City of London Police's Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit has charged six Britons with fraud in connection with the manufacture, promotion and sale of the device to foreign jurisdictions between Jan 15, 2007 and July 12, 2012.

In January 2010, the UK government banned the export of the GT200 and the Alpha 6 to Iraq and Afghanistan, warning that they were "wholly ineffective" at detecting explosives.

Comstrac set up two companies with three subsidiaries to distribute the detectors in Thailand. A total of 1,576 units were purchased by 14 agencies with the army being the biggest purchaser of the device. Most of the bomb detectors were deployed in the violence-plagued southernmost provinces.

Pol Lt Col Pong-in said the DSI has received documents from British authorities showing that the GT200 and Alpha 6 are ineffective in detecting explosives.

The findings match the result of the tests conducted locally.

"The conclusion is that GT200 and Alpha 6 can't detect explosives and narcotics as claimed by the manufacturer," he said.

There is a slight inaccuracy in this report in that the GT200 was sold by Global technical, and the Alpha6 by Comstrac.

While we await the commencement of trials in March, Techowiz has been detecting again and has discovered that Mira Telecom in Romania have found it difficult to give up dodgy dowsing rod detectors.

For those not familiar with the full story, Mira Telecom, headed up by Stelian Ilie, were in close partnership with James McCormick. Seems he invested some of his money from the Iraq sales of the ADE651 in Mira, and for a time he was a Director of a subsidiary of Mira.

Mira were active in selling the ADE651, including units to Constanza Airport in Romania. We tried alerting Stelian Ilie to the fact that the ADE651 was bogus, but instead of taking a responsible attitude like the respectable company he claimed they were and maybe checking out what we had to say, he defended the ADE651 and made various legal threats to Techowiz and me. Not that any came to fruition.

However, when the pressure got too much they ended their formal ties with McCormick and the ADE651, but never came clean and admitted they had been wrong to deal with it.

After all that you would think they would leave dodgy dowsing products alone. But no. Techowiz recently discovered a photograph of someone from MIra giving a presentation of the DKL Lifeguard which is a variant of the same bogus dowsing family that claims to be able to find people at distance and in, for example, collapsed buildings. The photograph is dated June 2012.

As Techowiz recalled, Dale Murray at Sandia Labs had de-bunked the DKL Lifeguard some time before Mira were clearly happily trying to sell it.

Do they never learn.

For more information on this see Techos Blog
http://explosivedetectorfrauds.blogspot.co.uk/

One reason for spreading this news is that Stelian Ilie and Mira have done a good job of sterilising searches so that their involvement with these bogus products is buried deep. Hence we want to try to make sure that future searches will give anyone dealing with them the knowledge that they are not so squeaky clean. Not least because it seems Mira have managed to access European funding for various projects.

On a separate note it appears that the efforts of Carl have paid off and that Chuckie 'Chuckles' Christensen has shut down H3Tec and is no longer selling his wonder detecting and prospecting devices. A visit to his website shows a landscape where he claims he is now mining. Of course, we wait with baited breath for news that he has hit the mother lode!

Congrats to Carl and we are pleased to have played a small part in spreading the word about Chuckie and his didgy claims for the capabilities of H3tec. Sadly there are still many LRLs (Long Range Locators) on the market, mainly aimed at desperate prospectors, but at least Chuckie and his claims to be working with the military are now toast. Yee Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
