Do you think deselected labour MPs would stand under a new banner against the official labour candidates? It'd be a massive boon to the conservatives if they did but I don't see that stopping them.

Opposition parties always, full of righteous indignation, call for an election whenever the governing party's leader changes.

It ain't gonna happen.

Does anyone know if we are going to need a parliamentary vote on initiating Article 50 or not?

Labour's Helen Goodman is asking an urgent question on leaving the EU and Article 50.

Cabinet Office Minister John Penrose tells MPs that the "government believes [Article 50] is a royal prerogrative issue".

A group of unnamed business people and academics represented by the law firm Mishcon de Reya has launched a legal challenge to require a future prime minister to get the approval of Parliament before triggering Article 50."

I think they've already decided that there will be a split. They are not prepared to accept the will of the majority of members. They'll either somehow take over the party and expel more than half the membership, or storm off and form a new party. It's too late to reconcile now, they've gone too far and will never be forgiven. The Tories are in for another 5 years at the next election...

Can you blame him? Who in their right mind would want to be PM in present circumstances? In fact, it could be argued that a Catch 22 should apply: anyone crazy enough to want to be PM is, by definition, clearly too crazy to be trusted with the job. Problem is, where would that leave us? :?

I have to say I'm feeling rather disorientated this morning. I mean, it's been several hours since the last dramatic political announcement. I'm already feeling bored...

Let's make some up.

David Cameron to present Top Gear.
Theresa May appoints Angela Eagle to the Cabinet.
NEC refuses to allow anyone on the ballot for the labour leadership election; appoints David Milliband as "Facilitator"
Theresa May summoned to European Court of Human rights - refuses to attend and instead has her pyromancers destroy the court and everyone in it with Wildfire. Crowns herself queen of the Seven kingdoms.
