UKIP has been compared to the "Black Death" after it was nearly wiped out in the local elections - by Paul Oakley, The General Secretary of UKIP.
When told it was responsible for the deaths of many hundreds of thousands of people, he said: "It also led to economic growth and the Renaissance, but this isn't a history lesson."
Wiki suggests deaths were between 75 and 200 million, but anyway.

Another way of looking at it is that the Black Death wiped out maybe a third of the population, but these elections wiped out 98% of UKIP councillors.
