And it has been another bad day for UKIP.
Whenever things are going badly for Ukip, Nigel Farage's cheeky chappy persona slips, and a rather more snarling and unpleasant character is revealed.
Today was one such occasion, after the party's heavy defeat in the Oldham West and Royton by-election last night.

I liked the way the media were saying that the by-election would be a poll on Corbyn's popularity, that if Labour did badly then he had to go. Labour win with a 7 point increased share of the vote; the Tories are thumped in a pathetic third place with 9% of the vote; and suddenly this had nothing to do with Corbyn, it was all about local issues and the local candidate.

UKIP have peaked and would fade away now except for the EU referendum which will give the media the chance to big them up again. They'll fail in areas where they have previously been strong but might pick up in other places depending what the Tories do.

And note that in Oldham the Tories were down 9 points. They didn't benefit from UKIP's failure. UKIP were actually very slightly up on %; the Conservative Party's vote halved.

I have read that she probably wasn't the right person for the job anyway, because she didn't appeal to the disaffected in formerly industrial northern towns - a group where UKIP is attracting support.

Depends on who they get to replace her. How about a populist bloke - that Nigel Farage might fit the bill.

It recently emerged Mr Farage had been secretly advising the Trump campaign

One comment to that article: ;)
"Now The Donald is being investigated for fraud in his charitable foundation expect The Nige to suddenly remember a prior engagement."

Indeed http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/nigel-farage-w ... ts-1584880
Farage said he would not return to the party "for 10 million dollars". When asked if he would do it for 20 million dollars, Farage replied: "No, I'm not coming back, I'm retired."
I see he had the good sense to bill in dollars given what has (entirely coincidentally) happened to Sterling....

Secretly? It's all over the papers here, and his supporters don't seem to care.
Yes, that one.
