Not so much IN The News - the article is more than six months old - but about the news. Few will be surprised.
The UK has by far the least trusted “written press”of any European country, according to the survey. Its net trust score is minus 51, which is the percentage points difference between those who tend to trust the written press versus those who do not.

I suppose this might be regarded as a Good Thing, in terms of being (often correctly) sceptical about what some newspapers say.

The downside may be a tendency to disbelieve anything you don't approve of, regardless of the quality of evidence presented (climate change, Brexit consequences etc...).

B-B-b-but ....
as with all these surveys - who are these people that take part? How and from where are they 'chosen' ? :???: and what criteria makes them (as individuals) eligible to represent a whole country ????? :?: :|
It carried out surveys of 1,000 members of the public in each of 33 European countries for its Trust in Media report. :?:
Trust in Media 2017
This report is based on the data published in the 86th Eurobarometer survey. :???: :con
It gives an idea of European citizens’ perception of the trustworthiness of several types of media, and includes EU Member States as well as acceding and candidate countries.
A Net Trust Index was developed by the EBU Media Intelligence Service to obtain an idea of the level of trust each country’s citizens have in the different types of media. :con
