The Wine Thread.

Post by bindeweede » Thu Nov 23, 2017 7:32 pm

With the season of Winter Solstice celebration approaching and its associated imbibing, I thought I'd start a wine thread.

Yesterday, I visited my local wine warehouse and bought a couple of bottles of "Nettie". According to a couple of online dictionaries, the word can refer to an internet user, but where I was brought up, it always meant an outhouse; a lavatory; a toilet.

This particular "Nettie" is a viognier wine from California, named after Nettie Van Valear who, in 1865, planted an acorn in the memory of Abraham Lincoln. It later grew into a giant oak tree.

Well, it makes an interesting little story. It is a pleasant enough wine, nothing exceptional, but then neither was the price.

Any other wine-type posts of interest are welcome.

The combination of goon and Coke is quite popular. For many travellers, this is the way to go.
